Reading: Your
child is starting a NEW fictional chapter book today! It MUST be read by
Friday, October 11. Students will have 15-30 minutes every day to read in
class. They should also read at least 20 minutes each night at home. This book
MUST be brought to school each day as in-class assignments will be given in the
Reader’s Response Notebook based on the reading. MENU #4 is also DUE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11.
Writing:
We are finishing up our unit on informative essay/article writing.
Ask your child about his/her piece that we wrote in class on how history has
affected our nation. They are also writing an independent piece this week on
how weather affects our lives. Our focus is the organization of 5 paragraphs
with supporting details and textual evidence.
Science: A weekly review packet will be
sent home each Monday. This is DUE ON
FRIDAY. This week we will focus on forces of motion (pages 121-124 and
101-104). In class, we will continue FOSS Kit called “Mixtures and Solutions.”
This week we will focus on saturation and concentration of solutions.
Social
Studies: We
are studying the U.S. government, including the Constitution and the Bill of
Rights. Tests will be open notes/book and if students are listening and
participating in class notes and discussion they should do very well.
