just a reminder that Girls’ Reading Night is on Thursday, September 26. Doors
open at 5:45 and it will go through 7:30 p.m. Please RSVP for this event by

Our
first field trip is right around the corner! In conjunction with our social
studies unit on government, we will be visiting the Capitol in Denver on
October 8. Please read and return the permission slip being sent home today.
The
science extra credit project is going home today. Crystals and reports must be
turned in by October 18 to receive credit.

Reading: Students
will be expected to read a fiction book of his/her choice every 2 weeks. This
book MUST be brought to school each day as in-class assignments will be given in
the Reader’s Response Notebook based on the reading. BOOK #3 and MENU #3 are DUE THIS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27.
Writing:
We will continue writing
informative articles focusing on using textual evidence to support a claim.
Articles that we read in class from Time for Kids and Story Works magazines
will serve as models for our writing.
Science: A weekly review packet will be
sent home each Monday. This is DUE ON
FRIDAY. This week we will focus on static electricity, gravity, and
friction (pages 113-116 & 121-124). In class, we will continue FOSS Kit
called “Mixtures and Solutions.” This week we will focus on concentration of solutions.
Social
Studies: We
are studying the U.S. government, including the Constitution and the Bill of
Rights. Tests will be open notes/book and if students are listening and
participating in class notes and discussion they should do very well.
