5th Grade Homework Newsletter for March 25-29

·         PTCO’s World’s Finest Chocolate sale ends this Wednesday. This fundraiser helps provide field trip scholarships to BTE students. Orders will be sent home Thursday.
·         The 2nd grade canned food drive to benefit Food Bank of the Rockies ends on Friday. Please donate to this worthy cause!
·         Spring Break/No School: April 1-12. Enjoy!!
·         Ameritowne Parent Meeting will be Tuesday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m. Please plan to attend if you wish to participate in this wonderful program.
·         Fox Ridge Middle School field trip will be Tuesday, April 16.
·         Symphony Field Trip will be Wednesday, April 17. Please dress accordingly.  
Below you will find your homework for the week. Everything is due on Friday so be sure to budget your time accordingly. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great week! J
Vocabulary: On the back of this page are words that come from the Ameritowne unit. Study the definition. The test will be on Friday.
Word Work/Spelling: Each night you will need to study your spelling words for homework. The spelling test will be Friday. This week we will focus on words that have ambiguous vowels in accented syllables (oy/oi/ou/ow).

Reading: You should read a book of your choice for at least 20 minutes each night. In class, we will focus on poetry.
Writing:  Our focus will be on figurative language and poetic devices.
                 Reflective essays are due Friday.
Science: Continue to work on your Science Fair Experiment.
·         Project Report due Friday, April 19
·         Final Project/Display board due Monday, April 22
Social Studies:  We will begin the Young Ameritowne curriculum.                                                                            
                             History Alive Unit 12 Test (open notes) will be Friday.
Math: We will continue unit 8, which focuses on graphing. Nightly homework will be sent home to reinforce concepts learned in class.
Unit 8 Test will be Thursday.  Unit 6 Math Boxes (journal 1) are due Friday.
